Remember?

version 4.3, released 2007-Dec-17

shareware $20 US, pay via KAGI

Mac OS 9, Mac OS X 10.2 or higher

This is a personal reminder package for Macintosh™ computers. Reminds you about important events in your life when you start up your Mac and while you work. Features flexible specification for repeating events, extensive control over appearance and low memory requirements. Includes documentation and sample event (occasion) files.

The screen shot on the right should give you an idea of how the Mac OS X version looks (the funky little artifacts are from the JPEG compression.) The colors and fonts are what I am using personally at the moment but you have complete freedom to choose your own favorite combinations.

So what’s with the ‘?’ at the end of the name? Well, a long time ago when I first wrote this as a desk accessory I used ‘Remember?’ as the window title because I thought it looked nice and it’s kind of stuck since then.

Mac OS X 10.5 “Leopard” Compatibility

No known issues, I’m using it here with no problems.

Intel™ Mac Compatibility

This release of Remember? is not a Universal binary however it works just fine on Intel Macs (using the built-in Rosetta emulator) with no noticable slowdown. All of your existing occasion files are compatible with both PowerPC and Intel Macs.

Available Versions

The downloads section has separate versions for Mac OS X and Mac OS 9 and also a much older 3.x legacy release for use on Mac OS 7 through 8. Please be sure to download the correct one for your machine(s).

Features

New in version 4.3

  • Added a new Today Hilite Style preference to select the style used to highlight today’s date in calendars (choices are: raised edges, box or oval.)
  • Added a new Time format preference to select 12 or 24 hour time formats.
  • Added contents property to favorite view AppleScript objects. This change allows the save/restore settings scripts to also save and restore your favorite views which were not previously preserved.
  • By popular demand, you should no longer see that annoying immediate alert after saving a new or changed occasion in some cases (I assume you don’t need to be reminded of an event you entered two seconds ago.)
  • The Scripts menu now includes AppleScript bundles.
  • Enlarged the Occasion editing window a bit and added help balloons.
  • Fixed a bug that could cause the wrong Occasion Type sound to be played.
  • Fixed a bug where invoking Cut/Copy/Paste/Clear could unexpectedly terminate some dialogs.
  • Fixed a bug that could assign blank default names to half of the 32 available Occasion Types for new installations.
  • Fixed cases where the occasion file importer could ignore some valid text files.
  • Cleaned up a few minor memory leaks in the AppleScript support.
